Prostate Biopsy
Under ultrasound guidance, small tissue samples are taken from the prostate with a thin needle and examined under a microscope by a pathologist. It is performed to determine whether a change in the prostate is benign or malignant. In MRI–ultrasound fusion biopsy, high-resolution MRI images are merged in real time with the ultrasound image and a targeted sample is taken from the suspicious lesion.
