Occlusion of the leg arteries, seen mainly in older age and mostly due to atherosclerosis, may be accompanied by calf pain when walking, numbness of the fingertips and toes and, in severe cases, ulcers and gangrene. Narrowings and occlusions can be treated with endovascular methods.
