Buerger's Disease

In Buerger's disease (thromboangiitis obliterans), mainly the small arteries below the knee are affected, and reopening them is more difficult than in other vascular lesions. The vessels can be reopened endovascularly; balloon angioplasty is mainly used, while stents are used less often in these patients. Complete smoking cessation is the key condition of treatment.
