Drug-Coated Balloon Angioplasty
Invasive procedure
Drug-Coated Balloon Angioplasty
When a drug-coated balloon (DCB) is inflated, the antiproliferative drug on its surface (paclitaxel or sirolimus) is transferred to the vessel wall and reduces the risk of restenosis; no metal implant is left in the vessel. It is used mainly for in-stent restenosis and in small-diameter coronary arteries.
