Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy
Video-endoscopic examination of the upper and lower digestive tract. In gastroscopy the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum, and in colonoscopy all segments of the large bowel, are viewed directly with a high-definition camera. The examination is both diagnostic and therapeutic: in the same session a biopsy can be taken from a detected change, a polyp removed or bleeding stopped. The procedure is performed under sedation, comfortably for the patient.
- Upper endoscopy: reflux, gastritis, ulcer, difficulty swallowing, iron-deficiency anaemia
- Colonoscopy: intestinal bleeding, chronic diarrhoea or constipation, anaemia, polyp surveillance
- Colorectal cancer screening and follow-up after polypectomy
- Biopsy, polypectomy and haemostasis can be performed in the same session
